The Process

 Specified Persons Adoption, International Adoption or Inter-Provincial Adoption

Steps:

1.      Contact the office of the Manager of Adoptions, NS Department of Community Services at 424-3205 and request an application to adopt.

2.      Complete the application and return it to your local agency as identified on the application form.

3.      The local agency will provide a list of licensed private practitioners. Contact the private practitioner of your choice and set up an initial meeting.

4.      Complete the required paperwork as provided by the private practitioner.

5.      Once the adoption home study is completed, it is sent to either the office of the Manager of Adoptions, Department of Community Services (International Adoption) or the local agency (Specified Persons Adoption and Inter-Provincial Adoption) for final approval.
